Today, I’m happy to share that the expansion will be arriving November 23 at 3 p.m. PST (November 24 at 12 a.m. CET). We’d like to thank everyone across the WoW community who helped us get where we are today, including players leveling up new characters in the Shadowlands pre-patch (and keeping Azeroth’s barbers extra busy), as well as all the beta testers who continue to provide us with invaluable feedback on the expansion. Since we first told you about our decision to delay, we’ve used the time to further polish the expansion and shore up the endgame, including overhauling the combat and rewards in the Maw, and reworking the Covenant systems to make your choice more immediately impactful and have clearer long-term goals. Now the team is in a great position to get things the rest of the way to the finish line before November 23—and as always, we’re committed to working with you to improve the game for as long as you’re out there playing it. Now that we have our launch date, we’re also excited to tell you that our pre-launch event will kick off November 10, so steel yourselves to take on a flood of the Scourge. In addition, we’ve set a December 8 date for the opening of our first raid, Castle Nathria—which takes players into the heart of Sire Denathrius’ lair in Revendreth—along with the start of Shadowlands Season 1. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone take their first steps into the Shadowlands and forging their destinies—but in the meantime, we’d like to show you just a little bit of what’s waiting for you beyond the veil. Castle Nathria Infiltrate the iron-barred walls of Castle Nathria, a 10-boss raid located in the shadowy realm of Revendreth. Face off against unfathomable horrors in a race to uncover a sinister plot and save these lands from a dark and twisted future. In the latest build of the Shadowlands Beta, we’re reworking Unbound Chaos. The previous entry in this talent location, Fel Mastery, was a straightforward damage increase to Fel Rush. But you needed to use all of your charges of Fel Rush within your damage rotation to take full advantage of the talent. Since that playstyle already exists with Momentum, we want to provide a talent here that injected Fel Rush into your damage rotation less frequently. The inner demon crashing into your enemies shortly after your fel rush completed was an attempt to present that damage in a more visually impactful way, but ultimately it does not feel very responsive. As a result, we’re changing the design to enhance the damage of Fel Rush directly. Q: How do I get into the raid zone? He will provide players with Naxxramas attunement and instant teleportation into the Naxxramas raid. Johnny’s brother Jimmy, can be found within the raid and will provide access to consumables and reagents. Q: Can I test with less than a full, content-ready raid group? A: There will be a zone aura present within the raid that will provide players with a significant health and damage boost to help them overcome the challenges of Naxxramas. The intent of these raid tests is not to provide a challenge that perfectly matches what we expect players to experience when the raid goes live. One recent update that’s not as visible is that Convoke the Spirits will now try to use more consistent number of current-form abilities. We also want to make sure that Mind Blast feels important to use over Mind Flay. This week’s changes include: Dark Thought duration increased to 10 seconds (was 6 seconds). Developers’ notes: We’ve also decreased Dark Thought’s max stacks to 1, as 5 felt excessive. We are open to feedback about how this feels, as always. Mind Blast generates 8 Insanity (was 7). Frost Giant Studios raises $4.7M to fund a New RTS Game Frost Giant Studios, a new game studio founded by Tim Morten (Former Production Director of StarCraft II) and Tim Campbell (Former Lead Campaign Designer of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne), has raised $4.7M to create a new real-time strategy game. Frost Giant Studios received funding from Bitkraft Ventures, 1Up Ventures, GC Tracker, Riot Games, and Griffin Gaming Partners. The money will be used to grow the team, build a prototype for gameplay, conduct consumer research, and expand operations. The main team is currently formed of eight Blizzard Entertainment Veterans, which plan to advance the RTS genre by applying what they've learned from players over the last 10 years.
